OBITUARY - Plain Dealer, Wabash (IN) Robert D. McKillip, 80, Wabash, died at 4:40 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 25, 2008, at his home. He was born Oct. 12, 1927, in Wabash County, to Alvin and Amanda (Shinn) McKillip. Bob married Betty J. Roser in Converse, on Oct. 19, 1947; she survives. He was a 1945 graduate of Chippewa High School. He was a retired farmer and past president of McKillip Seed Company, and had a lifetime of involvement in the seed corn business from 1947-2008. Bob was a member and former deacon of Bachelor Creek Church of Christ and a member of the Hanna Masonic Lodge, both of Wabash. He was a former member of the Wabash County Plan Commission. Bob was a volunteer fireman and helped establish the Noble Township Fire Department. He was a 49-year member of the Credit Committee at Beacon Credit Union and was a World War II Army veteran. He is survived by his wife, Betty J. McKillip, Wabash; three children, Michael D. (Debra) McKillip, Wabash, Marvin D. (Darlene) McKillip, Milton, Fla.; and Mina (Ken) Manns, Wabash; two brothers, Jack E. (Judy) McKillip and Ken D. McKillip, both of Wabash; two sisters, Beulah Lilves and Jean Myers, both of Wabash; sister-in-law, Lois McKillip, Wabash; six grandchildren, Michelle (Mitch) Snyder, Wabash, Angela (Brian) Monahan, Philadelphia, Nicole (Brian) Hoffman, Wabash, Courtney (Lorena) McKillip, Marion, Ashlie Manns and Marcy Manns, both of Wabash; and six great-grandchildren, Jacob Robert Snyder, Benjamin Snyder, Tristan Hoffman and Callie Hoffman, all of Wabash, Mya McKillip and Jazzlyne McKillip, both of Marion. He was preceded in death by his brother, James D. McKillip, who died June 26, 2008. Funeral services will be held at Bachelor Creek Church of Christ, 2147 N. St. Rd. 15, Wabash, on Monday, Sept. 29, 2008, at 10:30 a.m. John Leinbaugh will officiate. Burial will be in Falls Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Grandstaff-Hentgen Funeral Service, 1241 Manchester Ave., and one hour prior to service Monday at the church. Preferred memorial is Wabash-Miami Home Healthcare and Hospice, 710 N. East St. Wabash.
