Dale Arnold Boerma, 77, of rural Sioux Center, passed away on Monday, June 14, 2021 at Sioux Center Health with his wife Joyce by his side. Funeral Service will be 1:30 p.m. Friday, June 18th at Trinity Lutheran Church, LCMS in Hawarden, Iowa with Rev Joshua Lowe officiating. Burial will follow at Grace Hill Cemetery. Visitation with the family will begin at 12:30 p.m. Friday at the church. The funeral service will be livestreamed on the church facebook page. The Porter Funeral Home in Hawarden is assisting the family. Dale's family prefers memorials be directed to Trinity Lutheran Church, LCMS in Hawarden. Dale Arnold Boerma was born June 13, 1944 in Hudson, South Dakota to Gerrit and Esther (Klumb) Boerma. He was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church, LCMS in Hawarden, Iowa. Dale lived on his parent's farm west of Sioux Center, Iowa all his life. He attended country school and graduated from Sioux Center High School in 1961 at the age of 16. On June 2, 1967, Dale married Joyce Elaine Anderson at Nathanael Lutheran Church in Alcester, South Dakota. He served in the Army Nation Guard out of Le Mars, Iowa for 2 years. Dale farmed and milked cows and raised crops and pigs. After he quit farming, he worked at Sioux Preme Hog Plant and later at Orange City Coop Gas and Oil, delivering propane in the area. Dale also worked at Siouxland Mat Shop and helped some local farmers with field work. Dale and Joyce sold Watkins products door to door, at home parties, and at fairs and craft shows since 1985. Dale enjoyed trapshooting, was an avid Iowa Hawkeye fan, enjoyed visiting and listening to old hymns. He loved and trusted God all his life. Dale and Joyce enjoyed spending time at Okoboji, Iowa at their cottage and were blessed to spend 54 happy years together. He is survived by his wife, Joyce; brother-in-law, Robert Anderson; several nieces and nephews, cousins, and numerous special friends. Dale was preceded in death by his parents; parents-in-law, Julius and Elsie Anderson, sister and brother-in-law, Ruby and Lloyd Abbott; sisters-in-law, Donna Anderson (Mrs. Bob Anderson) and Betty Anderson; brothers-in-law, Earl R. Anderson and Laurence Anderson (as a child); aunts and uncles, Mike and Helen Klumb Reit, Nick and Minnie Buis, Pete and Gertrude Andriesen, Neal and Clara Schouten; Joe and Suzie Boerma; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
