St Joseph News Press 9-19-2023 Ronald Forrest Lynn Zirkle, 86, St. Joseph, passed away Sunday, Sept. 17, 2023. He was born Oct. 28, 1936, in St. Joseph, to Joseph and Margrete (Klawuhn) Zirkle. He grew up in St. Joseph and was a 1954 graduate of Central High School. Ronald married Phyllis Starr on May 4, 1958. Together, they shared 65 years of marriage. He proudly served his country for 32 years, first in the U.S. Air Force, then in the Missouri Air National Guard, retiring from the military in 1985. He also worked for Curtis Industries and Polsky Motors. Ronald enjoyed spending time with family, visiting with friends as much as possible, and planning Labor Day family reunions at the farm. He was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, Roger Zirkle and Roland Zirkle. Survivors include his wife, Phyllis; children, Timothy and Terry Zirkle, Starr and Darryl Richardson, and Rod and Shelly Zirkle; six grandsons, Alexander and Gentry Richardson, Zachary and Kimberly Richardson, Colton and Leslie Zirkle, Dayton and Cassi Zirkle, Wyatt Zirkle, and Logan Zirkle; great-grandchildren, Grant and Audrey Richardson, Maverick Richardson, and Mallory Zirkle; sisters-in-law and several nieces and nephews. Farewell Services and Public Livestream 1 p.m. Thursday, Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory. Interment Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will gather with friends one hour prior to the service.
