Roland Joseph Zirkle, age 81, a resident of Lee's Summit, Missouri, passed away on Saturday, May 8, 2021, at Research Medical Center, Kansas City, Missouri. Roland was born the son of Joseph and Margrette (Klavuhn) Zirkle on November 7, 1939, in St. Joseph, Missouri. He was a 1957 graduate of St. Joseph Central High School, St. Joseph, Missouri. He served in the Air National Guard. Roland was united in marriage to Janet Long on September 25, 1960 in St. Joseph, Missouri. She survives of the home. Roland worked for Southwestern Bell / AT&T for thirty years. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, St. Joseph, Missouri. Roland was also a member of the Duck's Unlimited Lee's Summit Chapter, Telephone Pioneers and the Tribe of Mic-O-Say. Survivors include his wife, Janet of the home; one son, Brian Zirkle and wife, Marla of Oak Grove, Missouri; three grandchildren, Emily Zirkle, Ethen Zirkle, and 2nd Lieutenant Richard Zirkle USMC; one brother, Ronald Zirkle and wife, Phyllis of Stewartsville, Missouri; a daughter-in-law, Liz Zirkle of St. Simons Island, Georgia. He was preceded in death by parents; one son, Major Steven Zirkle USAF; a granddaughter, Colleen Zirkle; and a brother, Roger Zirkle. Funeral services will be held at Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Missouri on Friday, May 14, 2021, at 2:00 p.m. A visitation will be held at Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Missouri on Friday, May 14, 2021, from 1:00 p.m. until service time. Burial will be held at Wheeling Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Boy Scouts of America Troop #228, Independence, Missouri and may be left at or mailed to Lindley Funeral Home, P.O.
