John Edwin ZIRKLE

John E. Zirkle, Sr., 90, formerly of McComb, Ohio, died at 12:09 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 10, 2006 at Sunrise Assisted Living of Findlay, Ohio. He was born March 10, 1916 in Allen County, Indiana, to Samuel and Margaret (Greer) Zirkle. He married Marguerite Conroy on Sept. 23, 1938 and she preceded him in death on August 19, 2002. Surviving are two sons, John (Jenny) Zirkle, Jr. of Findlay; and William (Karen) Zirkle of Defiance, Ohio; a daughter, Elizabeth (Ed) Quigley of Anaheim, California; eight grandchildren, Julie (Randy) Buck of McComb, Lisa (Tim) Hamelin of Crown Point, Indiana, Edward (Monique) Quigley III of California, Daniel (Christine) Zirkle of Wauseon, Ohio, Timothy (Amy) Zirkle of Napoleon, Ohio, Scott (Lorie) Zirkle of Cincinnati, Ohio, Stephen (Sharla) Zirkle of Mt. Vernon, Ohio, and Christopher Zirkle of Columbus, Ohio; two brothers, Richard Zirkle of San Angelo, Texas, and Samuel Zirkle of Erie, Pennsylvania; and two sisters, Mary Zirkle of Defiance and Margaret "Katie" Schwarz of Albuquerque, New Mexico. He was preceded by a brother, Lewis Zirkle. Mr. Zirkle was the owner of Zirkle's Hardware Store in McComb, retiring in 1986. He was a Defiance High School graduate and a graduate of The Ohio State University with a degree in Industrial Engineering. He was a member of McComb United Methodist Church; the McComb Lions Club; and was a former 32nd degree member of the Masonic Lodge in Toledo, Ohio.
