Paul Maurice SIMMONS

Paul Simmons, age 87 of the Red Knob Community, Buckhannon, WV, passed away October 26, 2011 in Buckhannon. He was born December 9, 1923 in Randolph County, WV. He is preceded in death by his parents, Leslie Dayton and Ivy Elizabeth Zickefoose Simmons and a grandson, Paul Simmons. Surviving are 3 children, Kenneth Paul Simmons and wife Kay of SC; Randall C. Simmons and wife Mary of SC and Beverly S. Sease and husband Steve of SC; 5 step children, Patty Moroz and husband David of Lyman, SC; Karen Phipps and husband David of French Creek, WV; Donna Simmons and husband Bill of Coalton, WV; Richard Canfield of Elkview, WV and Floyd Canfield and wife Beckey of Montrose, WV; 22 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren, 3 great great grandchildren and 1 sister, Iris Zirkle of Mabie, WV. Mr. Simmons was a coal miner, retiring as a foreman for Upshur Coal and served in the US Navy during WW II. The family will receive friends from Noon to 2:00 pm, Saturday, October 29, 2011 at the Tomblyn Whitescarver Funeral Chapel. A Graveside service will be held at 3:00 pm, Saturday, at the Lanham Cemetery in Queens, WV.
