Lona ZIRKLE

Lona Zirkle Bailey, age 83 years, a resident of Elkins, passed away Friday afternoon, May 18, 2012 at her home. She was born October 5, 1928 at Mabie, WV a daughter of the late Sanford and Pearl Zickefoose Zirkle. On June 30, 1951 at Monterey, Virginia she was married to Robert Blaine Bailey who survives. Also surviving is one daughter; Shirley Ann Bailey Daniels of Beverly; two granddaughters, Deborah Hinzman Harper and husband David, of Elkins, Leslie Hinzman, of Beverly and one great granddaughter, Alyssa Diann Harper, of Elkins. Three sisters, Vernia Hammonds, of Shadyside, OH, Mary Bertelli, of Wheeling, WV and Margaret Thomas, of Elkins also survive. Also preceding her in death was one son-in-law, Gene Daniels; five brothers, Virgil, Thomas, Maynard, Everett and Reuben Zirkle and one sister, Iona Thomas. Lona was a graduate of Coalton High School with the Class of 1947. She was an employee of Reidbord Brothers Company for several years, was a homemaker and a Methodist by faith. The family would like to thank Mountain Hospice for the excellent care provided to Mrs. Bailey. At the request of the deceased, flowers are to be omitted. Friends may call from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM Tuesday, May 22, 2012 at the Tomblyn Funeral Home in Elkins. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday from the funeral home chapel with Rev. Greg Lanham officiating. Interment will follow in the Mountain State Memorial Gardens near Gilman.
