Published in the The Indianapolis Star on September 8, 2003: Jack L. Zirkle, 72, Indianapolis, passed away September 5, 2003. He was a retired professional with the Indianapolis and Anderson regions of the Boy Scouts of America. He served in leadership with BSA for 34 years. He was an active member of Epworth United Methodist Church, and was involved in administration there for many years, following his retirement. He was also a member of several local woodcrafter clubs and spent countless hours sharing his love for woodworking, children and family by designing and building crafts and toys as holiday gifts. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary, in 1999. Survivors include his wife, Judy Brady Zirkle; daughters, Elaine Bricker (Thomas) of Harlington, TX and Brenda Sinders (Brian) of Downingtown, PA; son, Jay H. Zirkle of Indianapolis; stepson, Clark Brady (Kelli) of Plainfield, IN; sister, Martha Pettit (Jerry) of Anderson, IN; as well as 4 grandchildren; 2 step-grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, September 10, at 11 a.m. at Epworth United Methodist Church, 6450 Allisonville Rd., with visitation Tuesday, September 9, from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Shirley Brothers Fishers - Castleton Chapel, 9900 Allisonville Rd., and Wednesday from 10 a.m. until service time at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Epworth United Methodist Church Office Fund.
