Frank Casper ZIRKLE

An obituary was published in the Northern Virginia Daily on Tuesday, Marsh 31, 2015: Frank C. Zirkle, Sr., 81, a resident of Woodstock, Virginia, passed away Thursday, March 26, 2015 at Skyline Terrace Nursing Home, Woodstock, VA. A memorial service for Mr. Zirkle will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 1, 2015 at Stover Memorial Chapel with Rev. Robert Throckmorton, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in Riverview Cemetery. He was born in Strasburg, VA on July 26, 1933, a son of the late Lester Abraham and Lois Virginia Chandler Zirkle. Mr. Zirkle retired from Chemstone Corp., having worked 28 years as a uke truck driver. He was a former Strasburg Police officer, and served with the Shenandoah County Sheriffs Auxiliary. Frank was a plain and simple man who enjoyed the outdoors, was an avid hunter and fisherman, enjoyed his time spent at his cabin in the Sandy Hook area, enjoyed woodworking, and gathering wild mushrooms. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Michael A. Zirkle. Survivors include his wife, Lillie Mae Hamman Zirkle, and a son, Frank C. Zirkle, Jr., both of Woodstock, VA The family will receive friends at Stover Funeral Home on Wednesday one hour prior to the service.
