Plattsburg Leader, Plattsburg, MO, 26 May 1899, Friday: A SAD ACCIDENT Paul Zirkle, night operator for the C.R.I. & P. Ry., was run over by a switch engine at Leavenworth, Wednesday night and badly mutilated. Death resulted in several hours. The remains were brought to Edgerton and interred, Sunday. The deceased was formerly a resident of Grayson where he served as L. G. Aines' assistant when the latter was agent for the Rock Island. Mr. Zirkle was 23 years old and the son of Mr. and Mrs. Sam'l Zirkle. He had been married about a year [01 Jun 1898] to Miss Kerr of Edgerton who survives him.
