Harrisonburg Daily News Record October 20, 1966: BROADWAY — Bernie B. Donson, 77, died unexpectedly Tuesday evening at the home of his son, James A. Donson of Broadway. Mr. Donson was born Oct. 20, 1888 and was a son of the late Charles E. and Hannah Flick Donson. He was a member of the Broadway Methodist Church. In 1915 he married the former Mattie Zirkle who died in December 1964. Besides his son, he is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Peggy Hulvey of Broadway, and five grandchildren. The funeral probably will be conducted Thursday with burial in the Linville Creek Cemetery. The family requests that the flowers be omitted. The funeral for Bernie B. Donson, 77, of Broadway, will be conducted 2 p.m. Thursday at Broadway Methodist Church by the Rev. Howard Smith and Wesley Poland. Burial will be in Linville Creek Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Eugene Long, Ray Kuykendall, Bob Will, Fabian Smith, Richard Bell, Marshall Hulvey. The family will have a brief service at the residence at 1:45 p.m. Mr. Donson was a secretary in the Broadway Methodist Sunday School for many years. He retired in 1958 from Rockingham Poultry as a fireman.
