Dr. Thomas Clark HINKLE

Taken from the Olney Daily Mail, Olney, IL, January, 1972: Dr. Thomas Clark Hinkle,Jr., DVM, 60, of Sterling Heights, Michigan, died Tuesday evening at 8:30 p.m. in St. Joseph's Hospital in Mount Clemens, Michigan, where he had been a patient for ten days. He was born January 21, 1911 at Neligh, Nebraska. He was united in marriage with Ida Zerkel at Olney on May 8, 1937. Dr. Hinkle retired from the Consumer and Marketing Service of the Department of Agriculture, where he was officer in charge of the Federal Meat and Poultry Inspection Program for Central and Southern Illinois. A veteran of WWII, he served in the Medical Corps of the U.S Army and retired as a Lt. Col. in the active reserve. Survivors include his wife, Ida, two sons: Clark T. of Erwin, Tenn., James E. of Sterling Heights, Michigan; one brother, Ronald Hinkle of East Lansing, Michigan, two grandchildren, three sisters-in-law: Mrs. Lea Frost of Olney, Mrs. Barney Burgener of Dundas and Mrs. Bertha Zerkel of Olney. Funeral services will be held in the chapel of the Zirkle Mortuary with Pastor Glenn Leaf officiating. Military graveside services will be accorded by members of Olney Veterans Organizations. Interment will be in Haven Hill Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home
