Daniel Edward ZIRKLE

Daniel Edward "Eddie" Zirkle, 71, a resident of Mabie, departed this life Monday evening, Oct. 26, 2009, in the Barbour County Good Samaritan Center at Belington. He was born Saturday, Sept. 3, 1938, at Rich Mountain, a son of the late Daniel Boone Zirkle and Emily Jane Shreve Zirkle. Surviving are four sons, Daniel Edward Zirkle Jr. of Lorain, Ohio, Randall Lee Zirkle of Tucson, Ariz., Roger Alan Zirkle of Caldwell, Ohio, and Malcom Douglas Zirkle of Big Springs, Ky.; five brothers, Lloyd Jackson Zirkle and wife, Sue, Medina, Ohio, Raymond Neil Zirkle of Las Vegas, Nev., Junior Leon Zirkle of Florida James Lewis Zirkle of Mabie and Dana Zirkle of Mabie; four sisters, Betty Sturdivant and husband, Jack, of Mabie, Bertie Stone and husband, Vernon, of Newburg, Artie Shiflett and husband, Ronald, of Elkins and Emogene Simmons and husband, James, Elyria, Ohio, and and a special sister, Avah Phillips of Mabie. Proceeding him in death were one brother, Andrew Jackson Zirkle; and two sisters, Edith Virginia Zirkle and Nellie Carver. He attended Coalton High School, was a veteran of the U.S, Army, worked at Clark's Ashland for many years at Sandusky, Ohio, and worked at the Cracker Barrel at Pigeon Forge, Tenn. He attended the Rowan Memorial United Methodist Church and his dog, "Sally," was the love of his life. The family will receive friends at Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Elkins from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday. Final rites will be conducted at the funeral home chapel Friday, Oct. 30, at 2 p.m. The Rev. Stella Faye Moyer will officiate and interment will follow in Lower Rowan Cemetery at Mabie.
