Andy Robert WEST

Andy R. West,Sr. 82 died Oct.1,1996 at his home. He was born on Jan.28,1914 in Dodge City,KS to Rolland and Edna Mae (Bealmear) West. He married Nona Zirkle on June 19,1933 at Meade,KS. She preceded him in death on Jan.27,1995. He grew up and attended school in Dodge City and worked at the old Martain and Vaugh Store. He was later an assistant manager at the downtown Dillons store. he then went on to work for the Santa Fe Railroad, retiring in 1972. He was well known for racing and breeding horses. He was a member of First Christian Church of Dodge City and Loyal Worker Sunday School class. Survivors include one son, Andy West,Jr. of Dodge city and one daughter, Kay of Dodge City,KS.; six sisters, Louise Baker and Betty Stickney both of Dodge City,KS; Maynelle Perkins of Pueblo,Colo, Ruth VanGilder of Quincy,Calif, Kitty Jane Broadie of Wichita, and Mary Kendall of Garden City,KS; and three grandchildren. Funeral services were held at Swaim Funeral Chapel with Evan Horner officiating. Memorials to Mash Hospice.
