Laverne Frederick ZIRKLE

Jackson - Mr LaVerne F Zirkle, 65, of 101 Pioneer Plantation Road, died Sunday, April 12, 1998, at Aiken Regional Medical Centers. The funeral will be at 5 pm Thursday at George Funeral Home, Park Avenue, Aiken, with the Revs Don Prosser and Don Shires officiating. Burial will be private. Mr Zirkle, a native of Saginaw, Mich, had lived in Jackson for 18 years. He had retired as a journeyman electrician, and he was a member of International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers No 498. He was a member and past officer of Jamil Shrine Temple, Scottish Rite, York Rite, Aiken Blue Lodge and the Order of the Eastern Star. He was an Air Force veteran of the Vietnam War. Survivors include three sons, Steven Henry Zirkle, Roy T. Luna and Leslie Edward Luna, all of Bradford, Pa.; three daughters, Hazel I Ward, Jackson, Georgina L Zirkle, McCormick, and Bernice Oysti, Saginaw; two sisters, Marjorie Eldrid, Chicago, and Phyllis Laupher, Saginaw; and 10 grandchildren. Pallbearers will be members of the Potentates Guard. Honorary pallbearers will be members of Jamil Shrine Temple, Scottish Rite, York Rite, Aiken Blue Lodge and the Order of the Eastern Star. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 111 Pendleton St NW, Aiken, SC 29801, or to Shriners Hospital for Crippled and Burned Children, 2900 Rocky Point Dr, Tampa, FL 33607. Friends may call at the residence. The family will receive friends from 1-4 pm and 7-9 pm Wednesday at the funeral home.
