Seine zweite Frau Natalie, geborene Reh (1835-1909), bis dahin eine Freundin der Familie, und über den gleichen Urgroßvater Johann Georg Liebknecht eine entfernte Verwandte Liebknechts, war die Tochter des letzten Präsidenten der Frankfurter Nationalversammlung von 1848/49, Jacob Ludwig Theodor Reh und seiner Ehefrau Caroline Theodore Louise Weidig. Natalie Liebknecht brachte in den Folgejahren Theodor (1870-1948), Karl (1871-1919) und Otto (1876-1949), sowie Wilhelm Alexander (1877-1972) und Adolf Curt Carl (1879-1966) zur Welt
