War zwei Jahre auf Wanderschaft. Ging nach USA. Von Bremerhaven nahm er das Schiff "Hansa", lande am 6. Juli 1865 in New York City. Dort arbeitete er als Wagner in der Firma Stephenson & Co. Dort blieb er 6 Jahre bevor er nach Brooklyn zog und mit seinem Bruder Philip (116 Walton Street) zusammen arbeitete. 12 Jahre betätigte er sich so als Wagner. 1883 kaufte er ein Anwesen (112 Walton Street) und arbeitete erfolgreich bis 1895. Das alte Gebäude wurde abgerissen und durch ein neues ersetzt.
