Vermutlich waren die Kreuz-Wirte, wie viele der König-Verwandten, neben ihrem Beruf als Bauer auch noch Pferdehändler. Jedenfalls erlosch die Linie der Kreuzwirt-König mit dem Sohn von Franz Josef König, Wilhelm Placidus König. Dieser starb mit seiner Frau im Alter von nur 33 Jahren auf einer Reise als Pferdehändler am 21.10.1825 in Italien, in Susa im Piemont.
