Manslagt gehörte später zum Besitz der Häuptlingsfamilie Beninga. Durch Heirat der Erbtochter Gela von Manslagt mit Enno von Greetsiel fiel das Gebiet an die Familie Cirksena und wurde später eingedeicht. Westlich des Dorfes stand in der zweiten Hälfte des 14. Jahrhunderts eine Burg, die zum Familienbesitz der weit verzweigten Adelsfamilie Beninga gehörte.
