Manfred habe ich 1951 bei einem Besuch in Wuppertal kennen gelernt. Damals imponierte mir die "reiche" Familie Schumann mit ihrer "Villa" in der Albert-Molineus-Straße. "Reich" war die Familie Schumann ("Schuhhaus Rheingold" in der Innenstadt, das wir auch besuchten) für mich vor allem, weil sie damals schon einen schicken Mercedes-Benz hatten: Ein Modell, bei dem erstmals die Scheinwerfer in die vorderen Kotflügeln eingebaut waren.
Er erbte das Schuhhaus im Zentrum, war aber wirtschaftlich nicht erfoglreich, musste alles verkaufen und seine Witwe lebt von Bürgergeld.
