DOWANE ALFREY, age 66, died on Friday, February 10, 2006 at Parkview Noble Hospital in Kendallville.

He was born in Ligonier on May 28, 1939 to Allie and Laura (Gangwer) Alfrey his parents are both deceased.

He married Marilyn Keister on January 9, 1988 in Albion and she survives.

He worked as a tree surgeon for many years and then went to work for Conrail Railroad. Later in life he opened his own business, the Alfrey Tree Service, then sold that business and opened the Alfrey Mobile Home Salvage business in Albion.

He loved playing cards and games, gardening and his two dogs Crickett and Taz.

Surviving are his wife, Marilyn Alfrey of Albion.

Three sons; Robert Alfrey, of Albion, Tony & Teresa Alfrey of Syracuse, and Tim Alfrey of Kendallville.

Five daughters; Kristi Alfrey of Albion, Cindy Crawford of Fort Wayne, Jean & Jeff Coplin of Kendallville, Cheryl & Jerry Harter of Kendallville, and Tina Cleveland and Heath Smith of Kendallville.

One brother; Johnny & Cathy Alfrey of Ligonier.

Two brothers-in-laws;

John and Rusty Keister both of Albion.

Five Sisters; Marie & Elmer Blaine, of Churubusco, Linda & Norman Gregory of Churubusco,

Betty & Eddie Heath of Alabama and Norma & George DeWalt of Fremont, Ohio.

Special friend Rick Davis, of Albion.

One sister-in-law;

Loraine "Dewey" Smith of Albion.

Preceded in death by his parents Allie & Laura Alfrey, one brother-in-law; Tate Keister, five sisters; Midge Rockey, Velda Hancock, Pearl Slabaugh, and Rose Smith and one brother Robert Alfrey.

Funeral Services will be the Hite Funeral Home in Kendallville at 6:00 P.M. on Tuesday Feb. 14, 2006 with visitation from 3:00 til 6:00 P.M.

Officiating the funeral service will be Rev. Terry Zolman.

Burial will be At A Later Date.
