Er war ein erfolgreicher Unternehmer und war insbesondere in Tunis (z.b. am 23.08.1897) tätig. Da das Paar keine Kinder hatte, spendete es Geld für Stipendien und Wohltätigkeitszwecke. Eine Strasse in Luxemburg trägt aus diesem Grunde den Namen von Caroline Baldauff-Rothermel.
