John Meyer 67, of 1221 Georgia avenue a resdent of Sheboygan for the past22 years, died at 10:50pm Sunday at St. Nicholas hospital. Born in Stacyville, Iowa on January 15, 1882, the deceased attended parochial school thee and was engaged in farming in Minnesota in the early 1900's. Later he became an employee of the Standard Oil company.

On February 21, 1905, at Canby Minnesota, he was married to Anna Hirmer. The couple came to Sheboygan in the spring of 1927. Mr. Meyer was employed at the Kohler company until 1933 and later worked at the Sheboygan Desk company. Ill health forced his retirement from active work about three years ago. He ws a member of St. Peter Claver parish and was affiliated with the Catholic Order of Foresters.

Survivors are the widow; one daughter, Mrs. Joseph (Alvina) Haindl, Sheboygan; four sons, Ernest, Arnold, Frank and Charles, all of Sheboygan; eight grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Christine Nelson, Nampa, Idaho, Mrs. Anna Lefever, Monroe City, Missouri, and Rose Siebenbruner, New Ulm, Minnesota, and a brother Alex Meyer Pasadena, California.

Funeral services for John Meyer, 67, of 1221 Georgia avenue who died Sunday, were held at 8:30 am thursday at the Ramm Funeral home and at 9am at St Peter Claver church. The Rev. Father Robert Hoeller, pastor, was the celebrant of the requiem high mass. Burial was made in Calvary cemetery. Pallbearers were John and Henry Williams, Paul Feld, Alfred Heimer, Isadore Ellenbecker and Louis Peide.

Attending the rites from away were Mrs. George Svir, Greenbusch, Minn; Mrs. Joseph Svir, Badger, Minn.; Miss Selina De-ettignies, LaCrosse; Mrs. Donald Klumb and daughter, Milwaukee; Mr. and Mrs. Fredrick Bukowski and John Hirmer, Marshall, Minn.; Mr. and Mrs Clarence Anderson, Canby, Minn: Mr. and Mrs. Tillman Kuechenberg, Gary, Ind., and Mr. and Mrs Henry Stephani, Green Bay Wisc.

Im Jahr 1852 wanderten fast alle Einwohner des Ortes Allscheid/Eifel nach USA aus. Auf diesen merkwürdigen Umstand bin ich bei der (erfolgreichen) Suche nach den Vorfahren eines Amerikaners gestossen. Die vermutete Verwandschaft bestätigte sich zwar nicht, aber dennoch sind inzwischen viele Nachfahren dieser Allscheider Auswanderer zum Datenbestand hinzugekommen, so dass ich diesen hiermit zur Verfügung stellen möchte.
