Funeral services will be Tuesday at 9a.m. in ImmaculateConception Catholic church for Mrs. Joseph Meyer, 73, who died at her home, 600 Freeman street, Saturday; burial in Sacred Heart cemetery at Meyer, where Mr. and Mrs Meyer farmed for many years before coming to CharlesCity; was born at Superior, Wis., a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Peter Wolf;leaves husband and the following childen, Edward, Wausan, Wis.; Frances,Stacyville; Anna, Riceville; William, Stratford Wis.; Mrs. Elizabeth Dugan, Mrs. Gertrue Dugan, Mrs. Vita Jung and Joseph Meyer, all of Charles City; two sons and one daughter preceded her.

Charles City--Funeral services will be at 9am Saturday in the Immaculate Conception Catholic church for Peter Meyer 85 of 600 Freeman street, who died at his home here Thursday morning; an invalid for several years, he had been confined to his bed since May. Burial will be in Sacred Heartcemetery at Meyer.
Peter was born in St. Anna, Wisconsin February 29, 1864, son of John and Christina Wilhelm Meyer. On november 19, 1891 he married Adelheid Wolfand the couple farmed near Meyer, until they came to Charles City in 194
He leaves three sons, Edward Meyer Wausau, Wisc; William Meyer StratfordWisc. and Joseph Meyer Charles City; six daughters, Mrs. Paul Mayer, Riceville; Mrs. Arthur Mayer, Stacyville; Mrs. Kenneth Jung, Mrs Percy Dugan, Mrs Charlie Dugan and Margaret Meyer, all of Charles City; 45 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. His wife died in October 1945 and threechildren, Raymond, Christine and Sylvester also preceeded him in deth.One grandson Loren Mayer, was killed in service in World war II.

Description | Im Jahr 1852 wanderten fast alle Einwohner des Ortes Allscheid/Eifel nach USA aus. Auf diesen merkwürdigen Umstand bin ich bei der (erfolgreichen) Suche nach den Vorfahren eines Amerikaners gestossen. Die vermutete Verwandschaft bestätigte sich zwar nicht, aber dennoch sind inzwischen viele Nachfahren dieser Allscheider Auswanderer zum Datenbestand hinzugekommen, so dass ich diesen hiermit zur Verfügung stellen möchte.
