Rev Charles A. Brockman, husband of Caroline Brockman, was the first pastor at the historical Old Salem Lutheran Church in Catonsville, MD.
His family and early members of the church are mentioned in the publication by George C. Keidel Ph D, entitled: "The Catonsville Lutheran Church, a Sketch of It's Origin."
Rev Charles A. Brockman gave up his position as Church pastor and moved elsewhere after the death of first his little son, Charles A. Brockman on March 24, 1853, then his wife Caroline died on May 3, 1854, and their baby boy Frederick W. Brockman, died on June 28, 1854. These names and dates are to be found on a marble slab a few feet to the south of the church building.
Tombstone reads: "In memory of Caroline, wife of Rev Charles Brockmann, born 13 August 1823, died 3 May 1854. Charles A. born 9 Oct 1850, died 24 March 1853, Frederick W. born
22 April 1954, and died 28 June 1854, sons of Charles and Caroline Brockman."
