| Birth: Dec. 15, 1757 Weisenberg Lehigh County Pennsylvania, USA Death: Oct. 9, 1843 Kreidersville Northampton County Pennsylvania, USA Jonathan was the grandson of Johann Ludwig Knauss who was born in Emmaus, PA. Johnathan was the son of Daniel & Salome Knauss. He was the husband of Anna M. (Knappenberger) Knauss. "Notes from: Knouse Genealogy, Lukas Knouse (1633-1713), of Dudelshein,,Germany, and his American Descendents---------On the tax list on 1786 for Weisenberg Township, Northampton Co., Pa., Jonathan Knauss is entered as a single man and taxed 10 s. On 24 Dec. 1792 he purchased from his father's estate 227 acres and 103 perches of land located partly in Macungie and partly in Weisenberger Townships.The U.S. Census of 1790 states that the family consisted of one male over 16 years of age, one male under 16 years and two females. He married Anna Margaretha Knappenberger, b. 14 Oct. 1767, and farmed the Weisenberg tract but later exchanged this tract for a mill property near Bath, Pa., to which place he moved and joined the Reformed Church at Kreidersville. He was one of the early physicians of the county and was a great believer in bleeding, cupping and powders. He served in the Northampton County Militia under Capt. Jos. Siegried in 1778 and in the 8th Company under Capt. Adam Diehl in 1780 and 1782. He was sergaent in 1785 and ensign in 1794." He died at age 85 years 9 months 27 days.
