Notes for this person
Ernst and his wife Anna came from Germany to New Orleans and up the Mississippi by river steamer to Grand Tower, Illinois. They were icebound at that point and had to travel by oxcart the remainder ofthe way to Washington County. They both died with a few months of their arrival and are buried in a small cemetery on the original Brink homestead. Their elder sons had come previously. From the 199Article in History of Washington Co. Illinois by Minerva Brink Clouser.
