<p><span style="color: #333333; font-family: Arial; font-size: 14px; text-align: justify;">GANTEK Wilma Theresa (Vasinko) Gantek, age 95, of Willis Texas, previously of Stratford, beloved wife of thelate John Gantek, passed away July 5, 2011 in Texas. Mrs. Gantek was born April 16, 1916 in Bridgeport, daughter of the late Joseph and Wilma (Hirth) Vasinko. Survivors include her son, Teofil Gantekof Willis, Texas; her two daughters, Claudette Kiely and husband Vincent of Conroe, Texas and Audrey Fernandes of Waterbury; nine grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.</span></p>

From 1937 to 1940, payments were made in one-lump sums amounts with the first amount being seventeen cents. Following amendments in 1939, the payments turned into monthly benefits and increased. Following further amendments in 1950, cost-of-living increases were awarded to those who were receiving benefits. From 1950 to the present, benefits have increased yearly in response to inflation concerning the costs of living. |
