Notes for this person
The church registers of Obersteinbach, a parish in the deanery (Dekanat) of Markt Einersheim in Bavaria (Bayern), provide clues to the identify of the parents of Leonard Slip's father Johann Georg Schlöpp who was married on 28 August 1741 in Scheinfeld to Magdalena Marr.
The records of Obersteinbach from 1693 to 1790 have just a couple of entries for the name Schlep(p). They are in the series of records from 1693 to 1737. Here are transcriptions and translations of the two entries.
Image 69
Georg Schlep hochfreiherrlicher Untertan und Einwohner zu Frankfurt und sein Eheweib hat eine schöne Uhr für unsere neue Kanzel gestiftet. So geschehen Karfreitag den 3. April Anno 1733
Gott ersetze es mit viel Segen
Translation
Georg Schlep, high baronial subject and resident of Frankfurt, and his wife donated a beautiful clock for our new pulpit. So happened Good Friday, the 3rd of April Anno 1733
God replace it with many blessings.
Image 68
Maria Schleppin ehrenwerte Witwe aus Frankfurt hat unserer heiligen Kirche 2 fränkische Gulden vermacht. Gott schenke ihr dafür die ewige Ruhe.
[Probably after her death]
Translation
Maria Schlepp honorable widow from Frankfurt has bequeathed 2 Franconian guilders (gulden) to our holy church. God grant her eternal rest in return.
The record for the widow Maria Schlepp doesn't give a date, but it must be after the record from 3 April 1733 when her husband was still living. (That's assuming she was his widow.)
So, from these records we learn that Georg and Maria Schlep(p) of Frankfurt died after 3 April 1733 and he died before she did. Maybe they were the parents of Leonard Slip's father Johann Georg Schlöpp.
