<p>Erna Raak was born July 3, 1893 in Ketung-Siady, Province of Telschy, Government of Kowno-Kaunas, Lithuania. (also known as East Prussiia) Erna’s parents lived ton a large estate in East Prussiaprior to World War I, and the children were educated by a private tutor which was the custom of families who could afford one. Her father wa a miller like his father before him; and his mother was asaddlers-Masters’s daughter. Erna’s family were all seamen, and one of his brothers, who was a sea captain, went down with his ship in a storm off the coast of Africa. When Erna was about ten years old, his mother died of Tuberculosis, and when she was about fifteen years of age, she and her father and brothers and sisters immigrated to Merrill, Wisconsin where they lived for several years. From there, they moved to St Paul, Minnesota where most of them lived out there lives. She had thirteen brothers an sisters all of whom were born in East Prussia. Erna was a member of the Hope LutheranChurch, Mineral Point, Wisconsin. Also, she was a Eastern Star, a member of the Lutheran Women’s Club.</p><p><p>Both Earl and Erna are buried at Graceland Cemetery, Mineral Point, Wisconsin.</p><p></p>
