<p>Bruce Vernon “Boo” Stout, the son of Herbert T. and Cleo Amanda (Bruce) Stout, was born May 24, 1923 at Garber, Oklahoma. He was the eldest of four children born to this union, two sons and twodaughters: Bruce, Bob, Susie and Bonnie. The family moved to McPherson County when Bruce was young and attended the McPherson grade schools and graduated from McPherson High School in 1941.

<p>Bruce joined the United States Army Air Corps on December 11, 1942 at Fort Riley, Kansas and honorably served his Country during W.W.II. He was honorably discharged on September 4, 1944 at Fort Sheridan, Illinois and returned home to McPherson, Kansas.

<p>Bruce was united in marriage to Winifred J. “Ann” Postier on January 24, 1945 at McPherson, Kansas. This union was blessed with the birth of five children, three sons and two daughters: Tom, Don, Tim, Charlotte and Eileen. Bruce and Ann joined St. Peter’s United Church of Christ in Inman, Kansas and Bruce has been a faithful member until his health would not permit him to attend. Bruce worked for the Board of Public Utilities of McPherson as a Boiler Fireman and later as a Warehouseman for over forty-two years. During this time he also had sideline jobs such as owning his own lawn mower repair shop and having his own swathing business. Prior to working at the Board of Public Utilities, he was a driver of the Cracker Truck for the Sunshine Company and sold life insurance, door to door, for the Metropolitan Life Insurance Company. Bruce was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #2715 and the American Legion Post #24 both of McPherson, Kansas.

<p>Bruce was a faithful Christian, loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, co-worker and friend. His wise counsel, gentle but firm guidance, and gracious smile will be missed by those who knew and loved him. He was very proud of his children and always wanted the best for them. Bruce was especially fond of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and always looked forward to their visits and times they would share together. He and Ann enjoyed traveling to the Ozarks, the Black Hills of Missouri, to Colorado, to visit his youngest son and his familyin North Carolina and their many trips all over McPherson County looking for wildlife and appreciating the scenery. Bruce had many unusual instances and experiences through the years and he enjoyed telling his stories to his family and friends. The family was deeply saddened by the death of Ann on March 4, 2001.

<p>Mr. Bruce V. Stout, 84 of McPherson, passed away at 10:40 p.m., Tuesday, November 27, 2007 at the McPherson Care Center, McPherson, Kansas. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Ann; brother Bob; sister Susie and granddaughter Deborah Sue McIntosh.

<p>Surviving members of his family include his five children: Charlotte “Charlie” Holub and her husband Bob, of McPherson, Kansas, Tom Stout and his wife Louise of McPherson, Kansas, Don Stout andhis wife Kristi, of McPherson, Kansas, Eileen Johnson and her husband Kevin, of McPherson, Kansas and Tim Stout and his wife Jennifer of Kannapolis, North Carolina; his sister, Bonnie Loyd and her husband Dale, of Hutchinson, Kansas; fourteen grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews, other relatives, BPU family and a host of friends.

<p>Friends are invited to call Thursday from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m. at Glidden - Ediger Chapel, McPherson, Kansas.</p>

<p>The funeral service will be conducted by Reverends Karen Rice-Ratzlaff and Michael Marion, on Friday, November 30, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church, McPherson, Kansas. Special music, “Amazing Grace” and “Jesus Loves Me” will be sung and accompanied by Michelle King. “As The Deer” will be sung and accompanied by Reverend Michael Marion. Joyce Hall will be the organist.

<p>The final resting place will be the McPherson Cemetery, McPherson, Kansas. Members of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #2715 and the American Legion Post #24 will present military rites.</p>
