ARP.
Mrs. AbelArp, a resident of this city for the past 55 years, succumb
ed to the complication of ailments incident to old age at 10:20 o'clock Su
nday evening. Mrs.Arp died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Emma Wieckh
orst, 2118 1/2 Eddy street.
Deceased was born in Kiel, Germany, May 17, 1845, and came to Davenpo
rtin 1863. One year later she was united in marriage to Joachim Arp, t
he couple settling on a farm near Walcott. Mr. and Mrs. Arp retired fr
om active farm life 40 years ago.
Mr. Arp preceded his wife in death in 1908. The following children sur
vive: Mrs. Emma Wieckhorst, Mrs. Adele Pilcher and Mrs. MinnieGreen. Se
ven grandchildren, a sister, Mrs. Katherine Thompson of Dysart, Ia., a
nd a brother, Henry Kuhl of Everly, Ia., also survive.
