7-64 GEORGE PHILLIP RUHL b c1761 Lancaster County, PA d 4/29/1843 Union County, PA at age 82, buried in the oldest part of the Mifflinburg cemetery, Mifflinburg, PA m Lancaster County, PA. He came to Lewis Twp. From near Manheim, Lancaster County and on 9/1/1806 bought a 206 acre farm west of Mifflinburg from George and Sarah Reigh for $6906.67. It was mostly timber with thick brush undergrowth, which had to be cut out and burned before the trees could be cut. The original house was twenty-two feet by thirty feet, with a large open kitchen downstairs and the same size room upstairs; the stairs to the upper floor were on the outside of the building. In 1808 George built a dwelling in front of the original structure.
