Hoffman, Passes away suddenly after shortillness. Native of Somerset County. Josiah J. Hoffman, aged forty-twoyears, expired suddenly at 2:30 o'clock this morning at his home, No. 929Slagle Street, Dale, after a short illness with stomach and hearttrouble. He became ill on Monday, but on Wednesday felt so much better,that he started on a hunting trip. He was forced to return home,however, from Benscreek. The deceased, a son of Mr. and Mrs. Allen Hoffman, was born in JennersTownship, Somerset County. He was married to Miss Lena Slagle, daughterof Mr. and Mrs. Frederick K. Slagle with who Surviving with the widow isone daughter June, a teacher in the Dale Schools. Mr. Hoffman has beenemployed at the Lorain Steel Plant. Other relatives surviving are his stepmother, Mrs. Barbara Hoffman, andher children to his father, John with whom she lives on the homesteadnear Boswell; Gillian, of Boswell; Ida, wife of Hayes Friedline,Jennertown and Amanda, wife of Herman Shaffer, Latrobe; also twobrothers and sisters of the deceased; Henry, of the South Side,Johnstown; H. A. of Milwaukee, and Mary, wife of Albert Treft, rear 508Somerset Street. Funeral services will be held at the residence at 1 o'clock Mondayafternoon, in charge of the Rev. J.Q.A. Curry, of Morrellville. Intermentwill be made in Sandyvale Cemetery.
