Garland married Susannah Thomas born 1827. He was a large landownerthat was spared by the Civil War. Sarah B., daughter of Garland andSusannah, married Samuel W.T. Lanham of Spartanburg, SC. He becamethe governor of Texas from 1903 to 1907. He was a member of Congresseighteen years. The other children of Garland were: Frank Starr, Elma,Emma P., and John Wallace.
