It is believed Ralph Sprague immigrated with his wife Joanna, his son John, and his brothers William and Richard on the "Abigail" in 1628 to explore for the Massachusetts Bay Company. The three brothers founded Charlestown, Massachusetts. Ralph became a Lieutenant and Richard a Captain. In 1635, William married Millicent Eames and moved to Hingham, Massachusetts. Other sources say they came over in 1629 on the "Lyon's Whelp", one of the 4 ships with the second "Mayflower".
