Gerd H. Pageler was born n Wells Creek on the old Henry Pageler farm on March 17, 1879. He was called to his is eternal reward on Feb. 3, 1938. He attained the age of 58 years 1 month and 16 days.
His parents came to this country from Marx, Ost Freisland, Germany. Mr. Gerd Pageler was baptized by the Rev. Mr. Senne and was confirmed by the Rev. Mr. Abele in Immanuel's Evangelical Church of Wells Creek of which he had been a life member. On Feb 6, 1902, just 36 years ago on the day of his burial he was united in holy wedlock to Miss Anna Volkening. To this union was born one daughter, Lizzie, Mrs. Henry Peters. He leaves to mourn his wife and daughter, two grandchildren, the following sisters, Mrs. J. P. Mass,Mrs. John Schweirs, Mrs. Otto Pageler and Mrs. Albert Jung and a host of other relatives and friends too numerous to mention.The funeral service was held Sunday afternoon in the Immanuel's Evangelical Church of Wells Creek and the burial took place in the Church cemetery with the Rev. C. E. Wierth officiating.
Mr. Pageler was one of the prominent and most highly respected citizens of his community over a period of many years and his death is a distinct loss to his many friends and the community in which he lived.

When Life and Light depart;
There is a calmness- but it is not death,
When God has stopped the heart;
There is a room enter just to sleep,
Where God turns out our lights
And in the morning, when we wake, We've passed all early Strife."
