MRS. SOPHIA HASENBANK

Sop[hie Holz was born in Hanover, Cook county, Illinois, May 4, 1878. In her infancy the parents came to Kansas where her father secured a homestead near Paxico and where she attend school.

On March 8, 18904 she was united in marriage to Hans Hasenbank. arming was their chosen vocation and this was followed the balance of their lives. They became the parents of 11 children. Nearly 48 years passed when she lost her companion on February 8, 1942.

She continued to be active in her usual pursuits in farm work with her sons and had enjoyed an unusual measure of good health until about two years ago. An attach of paralysis at that time left her unable to carry on as before and robbed her of her speech. Her mental alertness however had continued until the last few days. For about 18 months she had been cared for at the home of her daughter, Mrs.l Harry Smith in St. George and there she passed away on Saturday, April 17, having attained the age of 75 years, 11 months,and 13 days. She is survived by her 11 children, Mrs. George Adolph and Mrs. Harry Smith, St. George; Mrs. Lynn Mayer and Mrs. Frank Kanode, Westmoreland; Harry, George and Edward, Cleburne.; Elmer and Mrs. Howard Hofmann, Manhattan; Cleo, Randolph, and Lester, Garrison. She is also survived by 31 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren. A brother Henry Holz, Wells Creek; tow sisters, Mrs. Martha Buchmeier and Mrs. Emma Breitschwerdt, Wamego.

Funeral services were held in the Stewart Funeral Home, Wednesday April 21, at 2 pm in charge of Mrs. J. W. Chelander of Randolph, with burial in the St. George cemetery.
