FINAL RITES HELD FOR MRS. C. WENDT Funeral services for Mrs. Charles Wendt, 73, were held Thursday afternoon March 19, at the First Congregation church with rev. Paul Dowty officiating . Burial was in Rose Hill cemetery. Before her marriage, Mrs. Wendt was Elizabeth Margaret Pogeler, the daughter of Bernhard and Elizabeth Margaret Pogeler. She was born May 16, 1885 at Oetzet Eastfriesland, Germany. At the age of 6 her family came to America, locating in the Manson area. On January 27,, 1904, she was married to Charles Wendt. The celebrated their golden wedding anniversary in January, 1954. Mr. Wendt preceded her in death on Dec. 28, 1955. She was also preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and two sisters. Mrs. Wendt had been a member of the First congregational church for over 40 years. Lloyd Wendt, Mrs. Lee Bacan, Mr and Mrs. George Henn sang "Beautiful Isle of Somewhere" and "Abide With Me" accompanied by Byron Henn. Those in charge of flowers were Mrs. Clair Nelson and Mrs. Elida Julius. Pallbearers were 6 nephews John Doster, Robert Wendt, Kenneth Pogeler, Arthur M. Johnson, Melvin Zehr and Marvin Zehr. Mrs. Wendt was hospitalized for two months last fall and bed fast since September 2. She passed away at her home Monday afternoon, March 16. 1959. Surviving are two daughters, Mabel, Mrs. W.F. Bryant of Sioux City and Edna Mae of Manson. One grandson Bruce Bryant of Hopkins, Minn,.and four great grandchildren, Richard, Barbara, Janice and Maureen Bryant and one brother Ben Pogeler of Manson. Relatives from a distance who attended the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. W.F. Bryant, Sioux City; Bruce Bryant, Hopkins, Minn; Mrs. Herb O'Brein, Boone; Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Pogeler, Mason City; Mr. and Mrs. George Bryant and Mrs. Charles Bryant, Sulphur Springs.
