Notes for this person
[Margaretha SPRUEGEL.ftw] Was a member of the U.B. Church in Berlin, Holmes, Ohio, USA. The following is from Carlton McNall: Edwin Darr was quite a remarkable man, he had numerous trades and wasa master of all of them; he was an accomplished carpenter, painter, paper hanger, butcher, saw mill operator, flour mill operator, hunterandfisherman. Also for the last 20 years of his life he owned the old Darr HomeinFremont, Indiana, USA which in reality was a 13 acre farm. He kept a cow, horse, chickens and had a large Cherry Orchard. During my adolescent years I spent acoupleweeks each summer picking and pitting cherries there. Edwin was not much ofa talker although, he liked to tell funny stories. He never made a lotofmoney, but they always lived and dressed good. He was a proud man, I neversawhim come home from work when he really looked tired and my grandmother(Emma) would say "You look tired" and he would dance a jig in the kitchentoprove he wasn't. He always shaved with a straight razor and never used amirror. Ihave seen him lather his face, strap the razor and step out on the backporchin the dark and do a perfect job of shaving. My grandmother Emma was awonderful cook and housekeeper. For years we had Christmas Dinner at her houseandthey were feasts to remember. She was more talkative then grandpa and a lotof whatI know about the Darr's she told me. Cause of Death: Cardiac Failure. He died at 9:40 P.M.
