Funeral Services Wednesday For Catherine Brockmann
Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at Friedens church for Mrs. Catherine Brockmann, who died Sunday. Burial was made in the Morgan cemetery. Catherine Brockmann, nee Lahrsen, was born December 31, 1859, in Averlak Kirchspiel, Eddelak, Germany; an departed this life March 11, 1945, at her home in Schleswig, Iowa. She had reached the age of 85 years, 2 months, and 11 days. She had been in poor health for the past several months. As a child she was baptized and confirmed in her native Germany. In 1880 she came to Davenport, Iowa, and a short time later moved to Avoca. Here she was united in marriage to Claus Brockmann on February 23, 1882. They moved to a farm in Hayes township, Ida county, where they lived until the time of Mr. Brockmann's death in 1904. Since that time Mrs. Brockmann has made her home in Schleswig. Her main interest in life was her home. She was a member of the Women's Union for many years. She leaves to mourn her death, the following children: Mary, Mrs. Emil Wellendorf of Deloit; Hulda, Mrs. Peter Petersen; Henry; Annie, Mrs. Herman Friedrichsen; Ella, Mrs. Carl J. Friedrichsen, all of Schleswig; Josie, Mrs. John Baeth of Danbury; and Emil of Schleswig; 18 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.
