Obituary of Mrs. Marie Wellendorf Who Died April 30
Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon for Marie Wellendorf of Deloit, who died Wednesday. Services were held at Friedens Evangelical and Reformed church.
Mrs. Broder Petersen sang, "Rock of Ages" and "God Will Take Care of You". She was accompanied on the organ by Mrs. John Bendixen. Rev. A. F. Rinne read the following obituary:
Death came to Mrs. Marie Wellendorf, nee Brockmann, early Wednesday morning, April 30, at the Denison Hospital, after a prolonged illness. She entered the hospital about a month ago and after a week went to the home of her daughter, Mrs. Earl Schelldorf at Holstein, Iowa. Last Monday it was found necessary for her to return to the hospital for special care.
She was the daughter of Clause Brockmann and Katherina Lahrssen, was born October 11, 1882, in Ida county, Iowa. She spent most of her youth and adult life in Ida county. On March 6, 1907, she was united in marriage to Emil Wellendorf. Five children were born to this union. After the death of Mr. Wellendorf in 1941, she made her home with her mother, here in Schleswig. During the past year she lived in her own home in Deloit.
She was a devoted Mother and grandmother; and her children were very thoughtful of her during the last years.
She is survived by the following children and ten grandchildren: Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Wellendorf, Clarice, Glen, Robert, and Donald of Deloit and Virginia of Shelby; Mr. and Mrs. Magnus Wellendorf and Ruth of Vail; Mrs. and Mrs. Earl Schelldorf and Donna Marie of Holstein; Mr. and Mrs. Fred Wellendorf, Richard and Rita of Ida Grove; Mr. and Mrs. LaVerne Thraen and Iona Maria of Omaha, Nebraska.
Also surviving are four sisters: Ann, Mrs. Herman Friedrichsen; Hulda, Mrs. Pete Petersen; Josie, Mrs. John Baeth; and Ella, Mrs. Carl Friedrichsen; and two brothers, Henry and Emil Brockmann, all of Schleswig, besides other relatives and friends.
Interment was made in the Morgan cemetery. The following were pallbearers: Gunnar Johnson, John Wiedemann, Henry Alday, Otto Evers, Henry Hollander, and Willie Bliesmann
