Funeral services were held Wednesday morning, July 27, at 9:00 o'clock in the Colman Catholic church for Mrs. John Bott, who died on Monday, July 25, in the Flandreau hospital shortly after the birth of a daughter.
Mary Magdaline Fiegen was born at Remsen, Iowa, on May 11th, 1898, to Mr. and Mrs. Max Fiegen, the oldest of nine children. They moved to Dell Rapids in 1911. On January 21, 1919, she was married to John Bott. They have lived in or near the Colman vicinity ever since.
Surviving are the widower, seven children: Marie, Edward, Doris, Isabel, Theresa, Patricia Ann and the baby girl; her parents, one sister, Mrs. Ralph Pierrett, Flandreau; brothers, Edward, John, Sylvester, Lawrence, Martin, Maynard and Arthur. Interment took place in the Catholic cemetery.
The last rites were largely attended by relatives and the many friends of Mrs. bought. Those from far away were: Nick and Tony Schuber, Joe Galles and children, Granville, Iowa; Mr. and Mrs. Irving Galles, Mr. and Mrs. Sy Delaney of Marcus, Iowa; Mrs. Ed Fiegen and family of Flandreau, Mr. and Mrs. George Gebhart and son George of Elkton; Mrs. George Sorson and family of White.
The home that has been left motherless will be presided over by the daughter, Marie, who has abandoned her plans to enter nurses training this week, to carry on the work of her mother in the rearing of the children.
