&lt;p style="margin: 0.5em 0px; line-height: inherit;"&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Hahn:&lt;/strong&gt; &lt;em&gt;Albert&lt;/em&gt; H., Geheimer Commerzienrath und Großindustrieller, Sohn eines Kaufmanns Martin H. in Breslau, des Bruders des bekannten Mathematikers &lt;a style="text-decoration-line: none; color: #0b0080; background: none;" title="ADB:Hahn, Eduard Moritz" href="https://de.wikisource.org/wiki/ADB:Hahn,_Eduard_Moritz"&gt;E. M. Hahn&lt;/a&gt;, wurde am 18. December 1824 geboren. Von kleinen Anfängen in Breslau und Berlin, wohin er Ostern 1851übersiedelte, schwang er sich durch rastlose Thätigkeit und kaufmännische Intelligenz empor. Er begründete und leitete eine Kunstwollfabrik, eine der ersten in Deutschland, so erfolgreich, daß diese deutsche Industrie mit der von England wetteifern und die entsprechende englische Waare fast entbehrlich machen konnte. Jener Fabrik schloß sich später eine Spinnerei und Weberei an. Ferner begründete er ein Röhrenwalzwerk, welches einen solchen Aufschwung nahm, daß er noch gleiche Fabrikbetriebe in Charlottenburg, Düsseldorf, Gerstenbaum,Oderberg in Oester.-Schlesien und Zweiggeschäfte in Wien und Moskau errichtete. Lange Zeit war er Vorsitzender der Norddeutschen Textil-Berufsgenossenschaft, ferner der Finanzcommission der städtischen höheren Webeschule in Berlin, sowie Beirath des Reichs-Versicherungsamtes, öfters auch Schiedsrichter in kaufmännischen Streitfragen. Sein hoher Wohlthätigkeitssinn bethätigte sich u. a. in der Unterstützung von mancherlei Unternehmungen, z. B. des Breslauer Kunstgewerbemuseums, zu dem er den ersten Grundstein legte, und in humanen Stiftungen für die zahlreichen Beamten und Arbeiter seiner Fabriken. Es war ihm noch vergönnt, am 1. October 1888 den 50. Jahrestag seines Eintritts in das kaufmännische Leben zu feiern, und 1889 wurden seine Verdienste um die deutsche Industrie durch Verleihung des Titels „Geheimer Commerzienrath“ &lt;span id="Seite_705" class="PageNumber" style="color: #464646; display: inline; margin: 0px; padding: 0px;"&gt;[&lt;strong&gt;705&lt;/strong&gt;]&lt;/span&gt; anerkannt.
