Calloway Leeman "Lee" BLANTON

Was born on the his Father Andrew Bray Blanton farmstead,nearthe Squaw Creek Community in Bell Co. Texas. He was thesecondson of eleven children born to Andrew Bray Blanton andMarthaJane Meek. H e grew up In Gatesville until he was 16 yearsold asa water boy and worked up to construction section formanforthe Southern Pacific Railroad in Cleburne, Johnson Co.until1916 when the railroad wa s struck by the workman. On 21,Sept1917 he married Ruth Marie Waston Born in Itasca, Hill Co.Theymoved to 400 Washington Ave. in Waco, Texas in early partof1918. They had their first son, Dougla s Jasper on 1 May1918.They moved to the Ather Jasper "Bud" Watson Farm in RunnelsCo.some time in 1920 where they worked as sharecrop farmers andhadtheir second son Winford Leeman "Bud" and a daugth ernamedMildred Ann who died at the age of two. He moved with hisfamilyin the spring of 1923 to the west side of Valley Creek14miles west of Winters, Runnles Co. until on 4 July 1930 whenhemove d his family to Dallas, Texas where he lived at 2906SwissAve. and worked in the shop at Central Motor Frieght withhisbrother, Robert"Bob" Blanton and later he and his brotherBobhelp build and opera te the first ice cream plant as amachanicalengineer for the Cabell Brothers in 1936. He died on12 Nov.1944 at the age of 59 and he was buried at the OakwoodCementaryDallas, Dallas Co.,Texas.
