She was a 30 year member of the Murphree Genealogical Association, and very active in the activities of that organization. Farris Leland CROWE May 5, 2001 Nashville, TN Left to be with our Lord on May 5, 2001 after a brief illness. Born to Rufus Ed Crowe and Parasada Barber Crowe in Clifton, TN on March 13, 1920. Preceded in death by wife of 49 years, Dorothy May Crowe. Survived by three daughters, Paula Ford (Bill), Sharon Crowe, Andrea Hans (Don); six grandchildren, Terri Chesney (Paul), Kim Wallace, Jennifer Kinzer (Tim), Scott Feinstein, Amber Collins (Alan) and Brooke Napper (Darral); eight great-grandchildren, Zachery Wallace, Ryan and Megan Chesney, Jackie, Josie and Tailyn Kinzer, Gage Collins and Elijah Napper, and devoted friend, Ann Charlton. Mr. Crowe is a graduate of Wayne County High School where he was valedictorian and president of his senior class. He is also a graduate of Nashville Business College. He served in World War II in the United States Army from 1942-1945, traveling to Normandy, Central Europe and Ardennes. Some of his accomplishments during that time are the EAME Theater ribbon w/3 bronze stars & 1 bronze arrowhead, good conduct ribbon, purple heart in Holland as a glider pilot with the 101st Airborne, Distinguished unit citation as staff sergeant, 224th Airborne Medical Company and Glider badge. He received an honorary discharge on September 23, 1945. Mr. Crowe moved his family from Tennessee to Detroit, MI where he became an inspector for U.S. Customs. In 1961 he was transferred to Nashville and promoted to Port Director. During his career, he was a big part of placing Nashville on the map as a big import city and entering them into the modern era. He received many rewards and achievements and was featured in the Nashville Tennesseean newspaper many times. Mr. Crowe was an active member of the Antioch Church of Christ before his most recent health setback. He was a 32nd degree Mason and a member in good standing of the Waynesboro Grand Lodge. He will be remembered by many as a wise and giving husband, father, grandfather and friend who could never do enough to help someone in need. Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 P.M.
