Hiram SELL

Birth: Oct. 11, 1849 Plain Township Stark County Ohio, USA Death: Mar. 13, 1928 Plain Township Stark County Ohio, USA Hiram Sell was the son of Andrew & Margaret (Spangler) Sell. [His death certificate incorrectly names his father as Emmanuel Sell.] Hiram was baptized in Holy Trinity Lutheran Church on November 4, 1849. His mother died before his first birthday. He was raised by his Spangler grandparents. After his father remarried in 1854 Hiram returned to Pennsylvania to live with his father. He remained there until he was 13 years old when he returned to Ohio and lived with his grandparents. He married Sarah S. Snider on December 19, 1872 and took a wedding trip to his former home in Pennsylvania. Hiram farmed and had a threshing business. He later had a truck farm. He was active in civic affairs serving on the school board, the board of supervisors, assessor and township trustee for Plain Township. They moved to Canton, Ohio in their later years. The Sells had four children.
