Birth: 1798 Ohio, USA Death: Apr. 5, 1852 Jackson County Ohio, USA Isaac was the son of Solomon & Ann (LeMasters) Delong who were both born in Germany. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Much of the following is from the research of longtime Delong researcher, the late John D. Baldwin III: ISAAC (4-3-9) b. OH, 1797-8. 1823 - md. Harrison Co., OH, Jan 16 Sarah Dickerson b. 1800-10. 1830 - Steubenville Twp., Jefferson Co., OH, 300001/10001. 1831 - an Isaac DeLong (could this be our subject?) purchased: E1/2 NW(1/4), Sec 27, Twp. 14N, Range 7W, 80.16 acres in Tuscarawas Co., OH, signature date 04/02/1831. (Tusc. Co. is near other cos. mentioned except Jackson and no other candidate found, all DeLongs in Tusc. appear to be Volume 4 DeLongs). 183_ - her death. 1838 - md. Muskingum Co., OH, May 27, Elizabeth Hiatt. 1840 - Salt Creek Twp., Muskingum Co., OH, 100001/01001. This is probably one bracket too low for him. His nephews Matthias (4-3-3-2) and John (4-3-3-4) also in Salt Creek Twp. in 1840. And all three men were of Jackson Co., Ohio in the next decade. His sons must have been back around Harrison Co. with relatives. 1841 - Isaac DeLong purchased following land: SW(1/4) NW(1/4), Sec 2, Twp. 5N, Rance 19W, 41.35 acres in Jackson Co., OH, signature date 6/25/1841. SE(1/4) NE(1/4), Sec 3, Twp. 5N, Range 19W, 38.72 acres in Jackson Co., OH, signature date 5/25/1841. 1850 - census Hamilton Twp., Jackson Co., OH, Isaac 52, b. OH & Elizabeth 40 (likely 50), b. VA. Also with them were son James M. & dau. Catharine, ages 16 & 6. 1852 - his will Mar 17 names wife Elizabeth and daughter Catherine Elizabeth Jane. It then names five other Delongs, none specifically called children but other evidence serves to confirm four of them. He died early April with Elizabeth being appointed administrator April 10; bonds signed by Daniel Riegal, William Parks and Elizabeth Delong. 1853-5 - During this period sons James and wife, William and wife, and Sarah's husband each signed 1/5th portion of a land holding over to Daniel Riegal. The amounts varied from $25 to $29. The other two were likely Catherine and Isaac Jr. 1860 - census Hamilton Twp., Jackson Co., OH, widow Elizabeth living with the Jacob Pierce family. Elizabeth age 59, b. VA. Also with her is daughter Catherine E. J. Delong age 16, b. OH. 1860 - Elizabeth leased a lot July 23 to Jacob Pearce (probably same as Jacob Pierce above). 1870 - census Hamilton Twp., Jackson Co., OH, widow Elisabeth(sic) and invalid, age 69(sic) in the home of daughter Catherine & husband Isiah Kincade (sp?). 1874 - Elizabeth had become insane and Isaac Riegel petitioned (no date) for a guardian to be appointed, stating she was 74, the widow of Isaac. On June 22, William Parks was appointed, Elizabeth's holdings being a life estate of 160 acres in Hamilton Twp. There is no county death record for her, but she presumably died soon after the appointment. Isaac R. Monahan, W. T. Washum and A. B. Monahan signed bond Dec 11, I. T. Monahan appointed administrator. Sale of personal effects includes items sold to Isaac Jr. 1875 - Account Nov 12 includes $13.83 & 1/3 cent each to Isaac Delong as heir, (no name) Delong also as heir, and Isaiah Kinkaid for his children. Kinkaid was apparently md. to Isaac's daughter Catherine (by 2nd wife). Children by Sarah Dickerson: 1. WILLIAM J. b. 1820, one of three sons age 0-9 in 1830, must have been with relatives 1830. Md. Jane ____. He is named in father's will 1852, they named in 1853 settlement. Perhaps he d. soon after. A Margaret Jane Delong md. Jackson Co., Oct 28, 1858 Edward Stubs. 2. HARRISON T. b. 182_, another of three sons age 0-9 in 1830, must have been with relatives 1840. Perhaps he was named for Harrison Trice who owed money to his father's estate. Harrison named in Isaac's will but presumably deceased by 1853 when three heirs signed over their 1/5th shares; the other two are not in the action but known to be alive later. 3. SARAH ANN aka MARY ANN b. 182_, the female 0-9 in 1830 and likely the dau. 5-9 in 1840, though she should have been 10-14. Md. Jackson Co., June 12, 1850 as "Mary Ann Delong alias Sarah Ann Delong" to William J. Baker. Called Sarah Ann in father's will. Called Sarah when her 1/5th of father's estate was signed over to Daniel Riegel. By 2nd marriage to Elizabeth Hiatt: 4. ISAAC JR b. 1832-3, md. Minaseau "Mercy" Robinett. 5. JAMES M. b. O., 1833-4, 16 in 1850, named in father's will 1852, md. Jackson Co., Mar 17, 1853 Edie Crabtree. He and wife, signed their 1/5th to Daniel Siegel. They were in Morgan Twp., Scioto Co., O. 1860, he read as 25 (must be 35), she 25, b. O., as Edda. In home were Abraham 54 and Jane 50 Snidely, both b. Pa, and their 5 ch. ranging 14-24, all b. Pa. Also in home were four Smith ch., all b. O. Perhaps the Snidelys were widow and widower who had merged families. No connection with the Delongs is indicated in the info at hand. James M. md. 2nd Jackson Co., Dec 16, 1868 Mary Ann Price. 6. CATHERINE ELIZABETH JANE b. O., 1843-4, 6 in 1850 as Catherine E. J. Catherine husband in 1870 census was Isaiah Kincaid (another source has name Isiah Kincade). She did not sign her 1/5th of father's estate over to Riegel as she died 1873.
