Born June 9, 1918, she was the daughter of the late Ralph W. and Gladys M. Peterman Lenarz. Marjorie graduated from Dover High School in 1936 and was a longtime member of the St. John?s United Church of Christ in Dover. She was employed as a secretary for Buehler Bros. Co. for 16 years and the Dover Chamber of Commerce for five years. On Sept. 4, 1936, she married Russell J. Smith with whom she celebrated 60 years of marriage before his passing on Nov. 19, 1996. Survivors include a son, Regis R. (Bonita) Smith of Yale, Mich.; two grandsons, Randal (Sue) Smith of Roseville, Mich., and Russell (Esther) Smith of Capac, Mich.; five great-grandchildren, Brandon, Jordan, Calvin, Kenton and Brieanne Smith of Capac, Mich.; and a sister, Eva Jean Truman of Dover. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Marty J. Smith, who died on Sept. 18, 1999; an infant son; and a sister, Betty Sutek. A funeral service that celebrates Marjorie?s life will be held Friday, Oct. 8, at 2 p.m. in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home at Dover with Rev. Steven Daniels officiating. Interment will be in the Dover Burial Park.
