Published in The Reading Eagle - Thursday, April 17, 2003. Florence M. Heckman, 89, died April 15 at 7:20 p.m. in her residence on Mount Pleasant Road, Penn Township. Her husband, John Heckman, died Feb. 7, 2000. Born in Strausstown, she was a daughter of the daughter of the late Herbert L. and Ellen (Binner) Schlappich. Heckman was a member of Bern United Church of Christ, Bern Township. Surviving are a daughter, Dolores R. (Heckman) Hicknell, Trout Run, Lycoming County; and five son: John A., Mohrsville; Charles D., Lawrence S.C.; Gerald L., Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla.; James S., Womelsdorf; and Michael K., Rehrersburg. Other survivors include 14 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. She was precedeased by a daughter, Patricia Heckman. Graveside swervices will be Saturday at 11 a.m. in Bern Cemetery, Bern Township. The Kirkhoff Funeral Home, Bernville, is in charge of arrangments.
